Reptilia (Reptiles)
A reptile is a vertebrate that has dry, scaly skin, lungs, and terrestrial eggs with several membranes.
Reptiles have well-developed lungs, double lop circulatory system, a water-conserving excretory system, strong limbs, internal fertilization, and shelled terrestrial eggs.
Turtles, snaked and other reptiles are ectotherms, meaning they rely on behavior to help control body temperature. Like having to go bask in the sun during the day to stay in under water during night to stay warm. To cool down, they move to shady places, go for a swim, or take shelter in underground burrows. |
All reptiles reproduce by internal fertilization, in which the male deposits sperm inside the body of the female. After fertilization has occurred,, the females reproductive system covers the embryos with several membranes and a leathery shell.
