Phylum Chordata (Chordates)
A chordate is an animals that has, a dorsal, hollow nerve cord; a notochord; pharyngeal pounches; and a tail that extends beyond the anus.
Most Chordates are Vertebrates. Vertebra are individual segments that enclose and protect the spinal cord.
There are two groups of nonvertebrate chordates; are tunicates (right) and lencelets (bellow) Lancelets have a closed circulatry system. The Lancelets have a pharynx, a sticky mucus catches food particles.
